It seems that the upgrade is *not* an upgrade over the 2500, but rather that the DGT North America is now based on the 2500 and not the older 2010 model.

Is there a difference between the Original and old North American Clock and the upgraded version?

I grew up using b&w board with lightweight wooden pieces that kept falling over. Worst of both worlds. Today schools mostly use green square boards and weighty plastic pieces, thankfully.

1.50” base is more like it. I have it also in 3.75 xcept its French Chavet distressed boxwood from Staunton Castle cause I like the ‘been through battle’ look

1.375” king base?? That’s unfortunate. That means… 1.375 divided by 0.75 = 1.83” square. That’s why I got the plastic version king base 1.70

What is your opinion on playing with the single fold board? I have not played on any folding boards, does the fold have much of effect on the pieces sitting on squares close to the fold? What are some of the pro's and cons in comparison to your vinyl or mouse pad roll up boards? Any opinion is greatly appreciated!

Great comprehensive overview. I’ve owned the Wholesale Chess clock and it works just fine for club or casual play. I’ve used it for Scrabble games. We would set a time, for example, 45 minutes.

I got a standard street tournament set from Yellow Mountain Imports with weighted, magnetic, plastic French Lardy pieces including extra queens and vinyl roll-up notated board with green and white squares to which I added a digital clock from Chess Armory. Then I gradually got my first "dresser" tournament set from Royal Chess Mall India. It's the French Henri Chavet Staunton, Kasparov vs. Karpov set in antiqued and ebonized boxwood with 3.9 inch (98 mm) kings. The board is their printed 21 incher in antiqued boxwood and ebony with 2.2 inch (55 mm) squares. I got the black leatherette coffer box for the pieces and the padded carrying bag for the board. It ran more than $600.00 USD, but it was worth it!!

It's the magnet strength on the "right" side magnet on the DGT 2500 (which controls the "release" of the grip when pressing DOWN On the left side).

Rossolimo the Ukraine Grand Master lived in the Village in Manhattan and had a Chess Studio, drove a Yellow Cab and taught Chess Lessons, 1972 Spassky-Fisher games.. Rossolimo played me as he walked me thru first tn rules and sold me my first Chess pieces, as a friend and l were just learning to play. l have those same pieces and am still leaning why, how, and where who is to play. Washington Square Park was where strangers played skilled players for a few bucks

I liked the 3rd m-pad with walnut & maple, even though it wasn’t wood. Of course, real wood is generally better.

I noticed the DENT in your white piece and the thin, pre cut felt on your other piece! I have REFELTED sets for many people, especially Plastic sets; they put such poor quality felt on the bottom AND that DENT-- they do NOT FILL the bottom as they SHOULD! I have put on VERY good QUALITY felt and FILLED in the bottoms - with great working spackling paste on MANY sets! Just let me know if you want me to put the steps on here - to do this! This has CHANGED the WHOLE FEEL to my sets and sets I have done-- it is SO MUCH BETTER! It DEFINITELY adds to the longevity of your sets and brings whole much better feel when moving your pieces! Like your sets a LOT !! congratulations!!
